OUR WORK

Internal Crisis Handling
Directorate General of Minerals and Coal (Ditjen Minerba)

Overview

The corruption case involving Harvey Moeis and the Rp300 trillion tin mining scandal placed the Directorate General of Minerals and Coal Ditjen Minerba under the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources ESDM into a severe institutional crisis, exposing not only financial implications but a perceived failure of its regulatory gatekeeper role, further intensified by the arrest of two consecutive Director Generals. Markathing led the crisis handling by simultaneously managing external public perception and stabilizing internal morale, ensuring that communication remained controlled, institutional integrity was reinforced, and operational continuity was maintained despite internal shock. Through strategic narrative management, the public discourse was redirected toward the individual actor rather than the institution, allowing Ditjen Minerba to contain reputational damage while sustaining professional performance and organizational resilience.
